HOIC Girls Basketball Season is Underway
HOIC girls basketball conference action is in full swing. Eureka has jumped out to a 4-0 start in conference play while Fieldcrest and Lexington are 2-0. Ridgeview is 1-0 in HOIC play so far. Play continues into February and the schedule and results can be found here:
HOIC Football Week 9 Recap/Playoff Preview
The 2019 regular season came to an end with the results of week 9 contests. In the Large Division, Fieldcrest won the division crown outright by finishing undefeated with a 34-7 victory over EPG. Eureka defeated Tri-Valley 34-3 while GCMS blanked Dee-Mack 19-0. Fieldcrest, GCMS, and Eureka will represent the Large Division in the IHSA playoffs.
In the Small Division, Tremont took the title by sweeping the division with a 32-7 win over Heyworth. Fisher defeated LeRoy 55-36 and Ridgeview-Lexington lost to Nokomis 8-0 in an out-of-conference matchup. Tremont and Fisher will represent the Small Division in the playoffs.
The HOIC placed 5 of its 11 football teams in the 2019 playoffs. In 1A, Fisher (7-2) will host Toledo (Cumberland) Saturday 11/2 at 2:00 pm. In 2A, Fieldcrest (9-0) will host Savanna (West Carroll) Friday 11/1 at 6:00 pm, GCMS (8-1) will host Rushville-Industry Sat. 11/2 at 2:00 pm, and Tremont (6-3) will travel to Watseka for a 1:00 pm kickoff on Saturday 11/1. In the 3A, Eureka (7-2) is scheduled to host Chicago Dunbar.
Tri-Valley Volleyball Wins McLean County/HOIC Tournament
Top-seeded Tri-Valley defeated #3 EPG 25-14, 26-24 to win the 2019 McLean County/HOIC Volleyball Tournament. The Vikings capped off their undefeated HOIC regular season with the tournament victory. It was their first tournament championship since 2016.
Second-seeded Dee-Mack downed #5 Lexington to win the 3rd place match. #7 Eureka topped #8 Fieldcrest for 5th place and #6 GCMS defeated #9 Tremont to claim the consolation championship.

Tri-Valley Wins 2019 HOIC Volleyball Regular Season Title and Earns Top Tourney Seed
Congratulations to the Tri-Valley volleyball team for completing a 12-0 undefeated regular season to win the Heart of Illinois Conference volleyball championship. Dee-Mack and EPG were both 10-2 to finish as runners up. With the regular season complete, tournament seeds have been set.
- Tri-Valley, #2 Dee-Mack, and #3 EPG all get first round byes. Tri-Valley will face the winner of #8 Fieldcrest and #9 Tremont. Dee-Mack will get the winner of #7 Eureka and #10 Heyworth, and EPG will face the winner of #6 GCMS and #11 Ridgeview. Other matches include #4 Flanagan-Cornell vs #13 Fisher and #5 Lexington vs #12 LeRoy.
The McLean County/HOIC Volleyball Tournament takes place at Dee-Mack High School October 22, 24, and 26.

HOIC Football Week 8 Recap
Week 8 of HOIC football included divisional match-ups. The Large Division showdown between Fieldcrest and Eureka lived up to the hype with Fieldcrest (8-0, 4-0) edging Eureka (6-2, 3-1) 21-17 in Minonk. The Knights earned the division title with the win and can sweep the division with a win in Week 9 at El Paso-Gridley. GCMS (7-1, 3-1) kept pace with a 27-0 win over EPG (2-6, 0-4) while Tri-Valley (4-4, 2-2) shut out Dee-Mack (2-6, 1-3) 49-0 in the other Large Division game in Week 8. Fieldcrest, GCMS, and Eureka have clinched playoff spots while Tri-Valley is still alive heading into the final week.
In the Small Division, LeRoy (3-5, 1-2) held off Heyworth (3-5, 1-2) 12-7. Heyworth’s loss means that Tremont, who improved to 5-3 overall (3-0 in division) with a 26-6 non-conference win at Peoria Heights, clinched the division title and a playoff spot. Fisher improved to 6-2, 2-1 with a 42-14 win over Ridgeview-Lexington. Tremont and Fisher have clinched playoff spots.
Week 9 features the final divisional match-ups. In the Large Division, Tri-Valley visits Eureka, EPG hosts Fieldcrest, and GCMS travels to Dee-Mack. In the Small Division, Tremont visits Heyworth and Fisher hosts LeRoy. Ridgeview-Lexington plays at Nokomis in an out-of-conference game on Saturday Oct. 26th.
Playoff pairings will be announced on Saturday October 26th beginning around 8:00 pm.
