Week 1 Football Wrap-Up PDF Print E-mail

The 2016 HOIC football is now underway after week 1 non-conference matchups.  Tri-Valley scored a big win for the HOIC, defeating Bloomington Central Catholic 28-6 while new conference member Eureka downed Salt Fork 14-7.  GCMS fell to rival PBL 21-14 while Fisher was defeated by Tuscola 61-6.  In games featuring two conference foes, LeRoy defeated Ridgeview-Lexington 28-3, EPG blanked Heyworth 31-0, Dee-Mack shut out rival Tremont 37-0, and Fieldcrest beat FCW 65-0.  Despite these games involving two conference teams, they are considered non-conference games for purposes of the standings.  It was determined by conference members that week 1 games would be considered non-conference so schools could play one game outside the conference or maintain rivalries that were not able to be scheduled because of the new divisional format.

Week 2 will include the first ever divisional matchups in the history of the HOIC.  In the large school division, Dee-Mack visits Ridgeview-Lexington, Eureka hosts Tri-Valley, and Fieldcrest travels to El Paso-Gridley.  On the small school side, Fisher hosts GCMS, Tremont visits LeRoy, and FCW journeys to Heyworth.
